DIY non-toxic cleaning

Most household cleaners found in stores are full of toxic chemicals. Once I learned this, I started figuring out how to make my own. As with any DIY project, the result needs to be as efficient, and it’s a bonus if it also saves $$. Because, who doesn’t love saving money?

The easiest way to make your own is using the following ingredients:

  • vinegar
  • lemon peels or lemon essential oils
  • water
  • glass spray bottles

My favorite cleaner to make is a DIY all-purpose cleaner:

Ingredients:

  • 1 part water
  • 1 part white vinegar
  • Lemon rind OR you can use lemon essential oil
  • rosemary sprigs (optional)- for extra scent.

Combine the above ingredients together, pour into a glass spray bottle, shake, and let infuse for a week. You can use this all-purpose cleaner to remove hard water stains, clean trash cans, wipe away wall smudges, and much more!  Caution: Do not use acidic cleaners on granite, as they will etch the stone. Also, avoid using vinegar on hardwood floors.
